what can LDAP do: PHP-Nuke uses an SQL database to manage users. LDAP for PHP-Nuke synchronizes this database with an LDAP database server allowing PHP-Nuke users to be managed through the LDAP database as well.
LDAP servers can be used to manage servers for
other services such as mail, Samba (file/print sharing), etc. so a user can have a single name/password for all these services.
