The RNteam has worked hard to make as many themes as possible HTML 4.01 compliant. For purposes of definition, tested just before the release of RN2.10 is the home pages run against each 2.10 theme on my test site and validated by the w3c validator. I know from previous experience that many other pages are also valid but there are probably some areas of Nuke that still introduce compliance issues, particularly in the admin screens, and that are outside the control of the theme. What can be said however, is that a number of themes beyond fisubice (which was previously compliant) are now compliant.
Late in the process of rn2.10 I also took a look at the use of evals and separate html files and eliminated the evals from a few themes. So I have shown in this listing which themes still use eval. I will note that this is not definitely a requirement or even a direction we are going in for all themes, it was just an improvement for the few themes I was able to address.
Html 4.01 compliant themes:
Fisubice, 3dFantasy, Anagram, Deepblue, Extralite, Nukenews, Odyssey, Slash, SlashOcean, Sunset
Non-compliant:
Karate, Kaput, Milo, Traditional
Themes with corresponding forum template
Fisubice, Deepblue, Sunset
Themes which use the eval method
Fibubice, 3Dfantasy (Nukenews used to but was converted to in-line code)
It is up to each admin of course which themes to support but we do not feel that it would be unreasonable to limit support to compliant themes, especially since now there is a reasonable choice. |
