Hey guys. Its been a while.

Im trying to upload a .sql into a new database.

Now, it seems to be working fine, but it 'exceeds timelimit' and cancels out.

Is it possible to break it up into a few smaller files and do them each individually?

Or is there another way to upload this .sql file

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mines 300 secs too I use BigDump to read large sql files.
http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php
Might take some trial and error to get things going but it does do the job.

Your alternative is to break the file up (chunk it) and copy and paste maybe 5000 lines at a time into phpMyAdmin. Just ensure that you copy a complete line as the last line.

i hope this helps ppl who may not know this
but if ur file is too big u can split it up
with a fresh copy of the sql file...ie nuke...u can find certain codes
what i personally sudjest u do is to go about the middle of the file
look for the CREATE TABLE table_name.
now take everything from that line down...include that line
cut it out and paste it in a notepad....save it as something
i personally save these files as something.sql the sql part it to easily find and identify it for me personally...it can be saved in any text format....after that..upload the first half(what u didnt remove)
then upload the second half....if that doesnt work...try breaking it down even further...some ppl preferr like what was said before...copy and paste to an sql query...personally not my thing...but what ever floats your boat Laughing Laughing

Personaly i zip it (not rar) it goes down from 19mb
to 3 or 4 mb
it does`nt time out for me then Very Happy happy days

i have 8mb max upload limit or 300 time

at first i copied and pasted the bbpost_topic / bbpost_txt as one (as it was massive.
then all the members and their info and forum stuff as one big one too also doing sentinel on its own to from the brand new(raven install) as one big one also. so at most there would be 4 .SQl files to upload , therefore missing max upload limit set from your host (mine is 10)

tar/zip (tar.gz or .tgz) will reduce it even further.

I use MySQLDumper for backup and restore my 370 MB sql file, because phpMyAdmin passes maximal execution time. Works very well.
