hmmm my turn please . I'm stuck on this same thing, (same with 500 bagillion people.) I just got desknow, and I got that all set up, I can send mail through it from where I want to send mail from, and it works. How do I configure PHP Nuke to work through DeskNow? Thanks for the help. |

This could be a nice tutorial. I'd appreciate it if you would post it here if you have time. |

Thanks alot, as soon as Mr. Anderson and I contact each other, I'll be more then happy to make a tutorial on how to do this. And I'm sure that if I figure out how to do this, then I'll be able to write more about other programs too.... Thank again. |

Personally I prefer doing it right. Confirmation emails seemed pointless to me at first. But you'd be surprised how many people make BS accounts with fake emails and spam your forums. But you may not have that problem.
RAVEN: Sure I'll post it tomorrow, i'm pretty busy tonight. But you have helped me alot in the past, the least I can do is try to give back some. I'll create a new post tomorrow. |

Raven,
I was just rereading this post and I realized I completely forgot about writing that tutorial. Would you still like me to do that? If so, i'll work on it over the next day or two and post it. Sorry. |

However it also requires authentication. So I contacted the maker of desknow and asked how to get it to relay smtp. They told me, I set it up... ITS WORKING. lol. Thank you for all your help and patience. Its greatly appreciated. | I wonder if it would help that when you find the fix, you post the fix here? |

I could ask you several questions and play 'posting' tag, but if you Google for php send email with SMTP and not mail() function you should get your answer. If none work then you may need to set up your own mail server. |

pan,
We don't know what else to tell you. Everything that we know about the issue has been posted here. This would seem to be an issue that you will need to work out with your host. if they have implemented a security scheme then we would imagine it is affecting more than just you so they should be able to advise you on your localized, specific, issue. |

BTW, we have recognized that this is becoming more and more of a systemic "problem" with hosts locking down the PHP mail() function. The RavenNuke Team is going to include an SMTP option in the next release (2.20.00).
