I have installed pnp to my website but am having trouble installing new mods. I have looked everywhere for support on this issue and it is proving to be cumbersome.

After I install a mod I can access the admin part of it but when I go to the mod itself, I get a Cant Access This File Directly page.

Do mods have to be formatted for pnp?

Welcome.

Yes, forum mods have to be adapted for PHP-Nuke regardless of the flavor. You can find many forum mods adapted for PHP-Nuke at

Would it be possible for me to make the changes to a module myself so PNP can use it?

See Im trying to install a Site Map and a Staff Application to my site and in both of these mods I am getting a Cant Access This File Directly page.

Would this be a permissions issue?

Sorry, I'm a bit partial towards the nukeSEO addon I created that includes a dynamic sitemap (HTML and Google). It shows forum messages, too.

As for the message, it's not a permissions issue. It has to do with the patch version you're using. PNP was patched, but I believe the last version was 2.9. The change that causes that message came in a later patch (3.1, I believe).

The code that causes that is at the begining of the module's index.php file. I'm not sure if you have a module that requires a newer patch, or if you are attempting to access the page in a non-standard way.

Thanks for the input kguske. If it is in the module's index file, that is something I can handle. Maybe compare apples to oranges with a module that is correctly working.

When I try to access the index file, I am trying to do so via a link in my menu or a link in the mods admin area.

This couldn't be a httaccess file issue could it?

btw, I will look further into the mod you have. Sounds like something I could use.

You are definite on the right tack. Seems like the apples to oranges approach will work since you are using standard access methods, and it's unlikely to be an htaccess issue (don't rule this out - it's easy enough to check).

No problem! I can't speak for other sites, but can tell you that just about everyone here is fantastic. It's amazing how much I learn - even after several years of working with PHP-Nuke. I learned a great deal by reviewing Raven's code

BTW, I used to live in Pelham, and learned to swim in Alabaster...many, MANY years ago...

Apologies if that came across a bit short, it was not intended that way. I couldn't see how it was related to the original topic.
You can ask as many questions as you like, but we like to keep everything on-topic. Wink

bigbillmrbill Of course you can ask questions but jakec was merely trying to point out the need to keep threads on-topic. This ensures those that use the search function can more easily find the answers they seek without having to trawl through dozens of posts in the same thread which are unrelated anf off topic to the original post.
It was in no way meant as a rebuttal to you personally.
