We just received a phone call this evening that my father-in-law is in the hospital and will be going into surgery on his neck due to loss of muscular control and feeling in his hands and strength in his legs. The neurologist took one look and had him taken to the hospital. He is now under the care of the top neurosurgeon in the Cincinnati area, and is going through testing to make sure he is able to handle the surgery ok.(he is 79 years old) No notification as to when surgery is yet, but expect it to be in the next day or so. Just asking that you remember him in your prayers. His name is Harold. Thanks all. Will let you know how it all goes.

We will be praying for him and for the family. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.

Same here! May He touch your father-in-law's body and heal him. May He also show His loving grace and mercy to him and the family through all of this.

The surgery went well according to the neurosurgeon. He worked on C3, C4, C5 and C6 vertebrae. He feels very confident that his recovery will be good. As always, they need to wait and see how the patient actually responses after waking up.

Today, he went down for first therapy. Since it is holiday, not doing much. His normal physical therapy will be 3 hours everyday in the hospital until he starts responding well to it. Surgeon stated he will be in anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months. It all depends on how hard he works. My wife says he is in a bad mood, which means he isn't feeling well. He has a lot of pain, which he tries to toughen out which causes him to be very irritable with all.

Thank you for your prayers, it is amazing to watch them work. He is a tough old guy, but hopefully with God's help, my father-in-laws spirit will soften and his normal gentleness will return.

Thanks again....Smile

I was on duty last night and talked to my wife. Things are not going well at all with him and his wife is not handling it well at all. My wife is close to her. Please add them to your prayers please. I am heading out for the drive down now. Maybe there is something I can do for them to ease the situation a bit.

Prayers work!...I know you think you have seen the power it has, but then when you see it again, it justs floors me. His spirit is lifted and he is eating again. His wife is more at ease knowing he is doing better. He is even back to joking around a little. Talking with him one time, the statement came up, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade....Smile

His Physical therapys are going much better since pain is down and spirit is up.... Very Happy

Just a short follow up. He continues to improve in therapy. He took 3 steps up a his stairs unassisted.....Smile He still does not have much use out of his right arm, but he has accepted the fact that he may not. He continues to work hard on that arm, he hasn't given up on rehabing it, but also understands he may not get it back.

The amazing part is the change in his spirit. God does help you deal with any and everything if YOU allow him to....Smile
