Somthing I stumbled on with the release of RN2.1 keeping an eye on my log files on my local machine while working on my three sites localy before I take it to production.

Seems Win Vista doesn't play nice with Apache during shut down so I get the following error after a reboot.

[warn] pid file C:/Apache2/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?

For some reason MS decided to change the way Vista shuts down and it no longer gives Apache time to clean up. I found if I manually shut Apache down before I shut Vista down the error goes away. Razz

Anyone remember DOS 2.2? It was specifically designed to break Lotus 123, so MS could gain market share for MS Calc (MS hadn't acquired Excel yet). Seeing this reminded me of that...

Vista is basically designed from scratch to break everything! Smile
I know Nvidia has been aggressively updating their Vista drivers. As well, Vista breaks many programs that rely on old 16-bit installers.

I'm guessing at some point, Apache will be fixed for Vista - esp the many people that rely on WAMP

Tried WAMP5 on another vista machine the latest distro seems to work without issues. The machine I'm having shut down issues with Apache I'll dig into a lil later to see if I can get it going, installed everything on it solo rather then using a packaged distro.

Is that the only bug you encounter with Vista?? Laughing

I didn't switch to Linux OS for nothing, i just don't like 1000's of security warning popups :p
