captcha letters come out white

every 10 or so refreshes, one of the letters, usually last one comes out white and it's notoriously hard to read due to the default background. Am I correct in assuming that this line

define('CAPTCHA_BACKGROUND_IMAGES', '');

is the one that defines what background is used? because whatever i put in there doesn't work and captcha won't show.

I'm using RN 2.10.01 any help changing that background would be much appreciated.

shane42, I have seen this behavior mostly on windows and not Linux. I really don't know why that is. Never figured it out. On occasion it happens on Linux, but it is very few and far between.

Unfortunately I won't have time to figure it out, but maybe Technocrat or someone else will be able to help you.
