Well it's not stupid to me, but I'm sure you guys have a simple answer. I have a nuke 7.8 site that has been up for a year and a half or so and I want to convert it to raven's version for security purposes. I have Nuke Sentinel installed on the 7.8 site, but it wasn't patched so I feel vulnerable. In the last week I've had 23 hack attempts...hence the change.
I have the new install up and all is well except I can't seem to login as admin. When I go to "mysite/admin.php" I get a message that says "begone". What am I doing wrong here? |

Search here for begone. You used forbidden characters in your admin name therefore your get the begone message. Its a simple fix.
Btw: You should change your topic title to a better like begone message for admin login. |

Ok...I see the other thread, so I used phpmyadmin to change the username in both the nuke authors and the nuke sentinel admin table and I still get the same message.
*EDIT* I reinstalled the "INSTALLATION" folder and went back through the setup overwriting the tables with usernames and passwords that included no illegal characters with the same end result as well.
*EDIT EDIT* It's working now....it was the illegal character thing after all. thanks for the quick reply! |

Hmmm... it appears that I have some major conflicts with some of my 7.8 modules/blocks. I was hoping I could just migrate all the site content over to the raven install. It appears however that this will not work, my shoutbox java isn't working and my i-frame module won't load right blocks. I stopped after those two failed, so I'm unsure what else is incompatable.
I was really hoping to use this install too... I like the extras that raven has included much more than stock 7.8. |

minion, RavenNuke is up on the absolute latest of patches from Chatserv. I have a feeling the issues you are running into are one of these:
1. Difference in patch levels supported by your add-ons - this is not too difficult to find and fix. Do some searching here on some of your errors and you should find solutions. I have a feeling this could be the issue with your I-Frames module.
2. RavenNuke is looking for XHTML compliance. I have a feeling that could be your issue with the shoutbox. This one has also been addressed in the forums here.
Give some searching here a try and if end up being stuck after some time, post a new thread specific to your exact issue (one per issue please).
Thanks and regards |

Thanks Susann and Montego. I guess my site deserves my time and patience by doing what you recommend. I know I would sleep better at night knowing the best security was in place. So far Nuke Sentinel has blocked every hack attempt, hopefully it will continue to do so until I can get these issues resolved. I'll read up in the forum before I ask for more help.

Since I have been banging my head against admin.php and authors.php lately I'll just add this. In admin.php there is code:
Code: if (isset($aid) && (ereg('[^a-zA-Z0-9_-]',trim($aid)))) {
die('Begone');
}
|
That is almost surely where your begone message is coming from. You can have lower case a to z or upper case or the digits 0 to 9 or an underscore or a dash in your aid and that's it. Anything else will result in "begone".
The $aid corresponds to your nickname so you can change it. But you may need to use PHPmyadmin to do so since the admin.php won't let you in to do so because of the test. Catch-22. |
