Cool.
I think fkelly has suggested before about using the News module for a blog and it's a good idea. I've been contemplating dumping my Wordpress blog and doing just this. kguske's Social Bookmarking mod helps to make it more blog like, but some additional features like pings and trackbacks would be good. 
Never used b2evolution myself, so I'll have to have a look. |

I have a blog mod I converted to Platinum, not sure if it will work with your version tho. You are welcome to try it tho.
Its in the downloads here under Platinum Mods.
