Ok I have a the latest patched version of PHPNuke 7.6. My phpBB was at version 2.0.15. I was searching for an upgrade solution and came across BBtoNuke. I downloaded all the necessary version to upgrade myself to 2.0.22 but I didn't upgrade with the nuked patched versions. I have not experienced any errors yet, but I wanted to know if there was a huge difference in the update packages.

Thanks,

Archangel

Not sure, but you can easily do a comparison of the update packages with a file comparison utility like Beyond Compare (commercial - but worth it) or WinMerge (free).

No, there aren't any differences besides minor code changes. I would say use the core (non-Patched) versions, as they are closer to the phpBB files. Any phpBB mods you would want to install, it would be easier to do code changes that way.
