Older articles block for registered users doesn't work

Older articles block when activated for all,
lists content for anon users and Administrators but none when logged in as registered users....

when actiavted for reg users only, lists content for Admins but not for registered users..

I get this standard/stock mesg in the block..
"There isn't content right now for this block."

BTW, stories archive module is actiavted for reg users only..

can any one please point as to how reg users can see the content in older articles??

At quick glance the only thing that would block it from working would be the stories archive not being active, what happens if you make the module visible to all?

"Stories Archive" is activated
tried both for all users and only registered, in each case, "Older Articles" is set for reg users..not much of diff, "Older Artciles" is not showing content for reg users..so beats me..
if I make Older Articles for all visitors, then that defeats the purpose of the instranet site:-)
