I'm looking for a node that will let me configure the images displayed and the links they go to for 5 news items. Along the lines of what GameSpot uses on their main page.
Only registered users can see links on this board!
Get registered or login to the forums!
Several websites use this to showcase their biggest or latest news items.

I tried searching google for flash + news and a couple of other parameters but came up empty. Quite honestly, I'm not sure what it's called, so I'm probably not even searching for the right name.

There is a block already within RN which displays the last 5 news articles. I assume this is news from your site. If not you could also create a block from an RSS feed from another site.

As far as I know there is nothing like that for Nuke at the moment.
