- I couldn't breath this was so stupid it was funny. The baby zombie thing flying across the room hitting the wall then laughing. GAF It seems like they tried to make a serious horror movie then figured out it wasn't going to happen so they went over the top. You can just imagine the guy behind the camera with a bucket of fake blood waiting for his que to throw it.

OMG!!!

You're the first person I've run across that knows about 'Dead Alive'... amazing!

I wore out my VHS copy, I've watched it so much. It's got a green line going down the side of the picture, for almost the whole length of the movie, and I still watch it. I even had to take my deck apart, one time, 'cause it ate it. One of these days I'm gonna buy it on DVD. I think I was the first person to review it on Amazon.com, years ago.

Which version do you have?

IMHO, the 'unrated' version is the best. The 'R' version sucks! The Japanese version, most fans (fanatics) buy, has an extra 12 minutes in it, or whatever. I just don't like subtitles...

Oh, BTW, it's NOT just you. It was supposed to be a dark comedy... Wink

Heh! Did you notice whom the director of 'Dead Alive' was? Peter Jackson....

Some of his other films, ppl may have heard of:
  • Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
  • Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
  • Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

He's just about to start shooting his remake of King Kong (King Kong 2005), for release next summer.

I don't know if you caught it in 'Dead Alive (1992)', but the 'rat monkeys' came from Skull Island (home of King Kong). So, I suspect 'King Kong 2005' has been on the back of Jackson's mind for quite a while, i.e. it's going to be as well done as 'Lord of the Rings', et al.

I think the next version of 'Dead Alive' I buy is going to be the uncut New Zealand version.
That's where Jackson is from... Wink

I did notice Jackson and then had to whip out my LOTR because I was thinking ... naw .. it couldn't be the same guy. But it was Very Happy

I didn't know he was going to do King Kong, and I didn't put the skull island thing together. I'm not much of a big monkey fan Razz

Day of the Trifids cracks me up.

OK I know it's old and special effects weren't what they are now, but it's so funny, and the over acting back in those days was hilarious.
