Controlling the number of news posts on homepage

I've tried setting the number of stories/news posts on the homepage to 5, from the site's preferences, but it seems like phpnuke is insisting on keeping the number to 10 news posts!

Is there anything I am missing or I can do to set this correctly?

Look in the Admin Preferences

Find this:

Let users change News number in Home?

Make sure it is set to "no"

Are you using NSN News or another news replacement? It's possible to override the site's preferences with that.
