Problem with Creating a new user

When new users are attempting to create an account the following error occurs after they confirm on the final step:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/wetumpka/public_html/includes/sql_layer.php on line 238
_ERROR

The user info is put in the nuke_users_temp table but that is all that seems to happen.

This is on a site that has been up and running for a little while and there are already users that have been created successfully. To my knowledge there haven't been any upgrades/mods from the original install.

Any help is appreciated.
