Hi all,

I am new to Ravenwebhosting and had a few questions about moving my site. First, my thanks for the hostmaster for walking me through so much of this yesterday. My site was hacked and my provider, instead of letting me try to fix it, took down the site for a week and said that I could only get back up if I started from scratch. I've unfortunately run into another snag.

My old server is in a datacenter freshly formatted. The provider will NOT help me to any extent even though they don't know I'm leaving. They have attached the old (hacked) drive to the server attached as a secondary. They did not mount the drive. The site management console is PLESK.

1. Is there any way to mount the drive using PLESK? I can't seem to find a way. If there isn't, what exactly do I need to do to mount it? (If it involves going into the Linux shell, please have mercy. I don't know what I am doing. LOL)
2. Can I pull the old sql database from the old drive in this situation? I do have a backup of my database that's a bit dated, but I'd like to inject the user database from the old server into the new if at all possible.

Thank you.

I don't know PLESK that well, but I can help you from the shell prompt. Did they at least tell you the mount point for the second drive? When you issue a mount command you need to know a mount point (kind of like a partition name). For example, let's say that someone had a secondary drive for backups. They would have established a mount point [possibly] called /backup. So, their mount point would then be called as #prompt> mount /backup. Then you can simply issue a cd /backup and you have access. If they haven't, then insist that they do that. You can establish it yourself but you need to know more information. Let's start here and see where we get.

yeah, they said mnt /dev/hdb3/mnt/

BUT, I can't access the shell of course. I can't wait to get rid of this "service".

Thanks Raven.

oops...I should have clarified....They must want me to guess at the shell password because it's been reset and my request for it 3 hours ago hasn't been responded to.

Guess the shell password and win a prize!!!

Raven,

Do you think I'll be able to access the sql database if the drive is in it's original form? I'd like to pull the members back in and maybe the forum posts.

They said an admin is looking into resetting my password.

Would it make sense for me to try to load the Mysql database I have as-is and then later update it?
