Good morning everyone. Smile For the record, may I say that I already despise 7.7. But I'm going to try to fix it before I do a clean install with 7.6.

Okay, here is what I am trying to do. I have my site, wargamingwomen.com. I have added a subsite to it. wargamingwomen.com/rosa. Now, I am using Fantastico to install. The root is using 7.6. Fantastico is only offering 7.7 so that what I loaded to the rosa folder.

I've had nothing but problems from the beginning. I had an admin loop that would not go away. So I went to find the patch. Here is my problem now. I cannot do a wargamingwomen.com/rosa/update.php. It keeps telling me that there is a problem with MySQL. No update, no page, obviously. You guys got any idea what I can do? Can I just run the upgradedb script in MySQL? And how do I do that?

Thanks
Rose

well have you tried to use a subdomain instead..
all that auto install isnt that great...
like..rosa.wargamingwomen.com

or if you wanna keep it like it is check your database files/connection...
and if the database is realy created..

Yeah, the database is there for sure. I checked that already.

I thought about a subdomain, but it's easier for my gaming people to remember this way. Not all are the brightest. <Sigh>

Any other ideas on things I can do. I'm seriously considering do an rollback install of 7.6 which is a hell of a lot more stable.

well its very simple infact..
looking at your rosa there isnt any connection otherwise it would show your site.
better check your config file and see if all is entered properly.
thats the first step for phpnuke to be able to work...

Okay, was it necessary for me to make changes to the config file after the update? I obviously missed that part somewhere along the line. Site was up, but super buggy before update, site down after update. Smile I screwed something up along the way, I guess.

Anyway, if you could direct to me to where I can find the config changes, I would be very grateful. Smile

Nah, this was happening before I even did the patch. I was hoping the patch would help it, but nope. Sad

I'll tell you what does work. If I put in my domain numbers. Instead of

(can't remember my domain numbers) and I can get in admin just fine and move around. Try to use the URL? I am in an endless loop. Try to get in any area of admin besides the main admin page and it just asks for my user name/password over and over again. Actually, let me rephrase that. It asks for my user name/password and will send me back to the main admin page. I can't even get to the preferences in admin. Quite frustrating. I've been researching it. I put in the numbered domain for the sitename in config in MySQL hoping that would help. It didn't. I deleted my God account and redid it. Didn't work. AGGHHH!!! LOL

well at first it looks like a dns problem but i doubt that ...
well...since your busy and havent done to much work on that new site i suggest you delete the nuke version...
leave the database intact...
download the fully patched 7.6 and upload that...

Yeah, that's what I decided to do. I've already got 7.6 loaded, got to load the patch and then run that rollback program I saw on another thread. I got tired of messing with 7.7. ROFL!! I had my misgivings to start with and I was right.

Once again, persona_non_grata, thanks for all your help. Smile

I am having the same problem with my 7.7 fully patched, I log in through admin and if I want to do anything, it asks for the log in, I put it in and it takes me back to the main admin page again. I have also found something else, it seems to not keep users logged in at all, since I can log in see my "Your Account" page, and when I do anything else the log in button comes up again and I can't see the "Your Account" page.

To keep informing of the situation, I have uninstalled 7.7 and installed 7.6 RC4 and I still get the same problem, does it have anything to do with permissions?

After doing some more homework on the subject, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is in the cookies your browser has stored. Apparently when you are running two different sites of off the same URL the browser gets confused and doesn't know what to do, so it just assumes that you need to log back in to proceed, because the information in the cookie doesn't match up with the website exactly.

Wow, calberto, that is awesome. Now, how did you fix it. Just deleted cookies? Or did you just use the same user name/password as the main site?

Yeah, it can be just coincidence, but it seems to work every time. I just deleted the cookies on the browser and it would start working, but as soon as I logged in admin on the other site it would start the loop up again. I have not done testing if by logging out on the other site before logging in the new one would fix it as well.

persona_non_grata, are the sites the same name? are you using the same acct name and pw?, because for me, I am using the same site name to try out new system versions, and my acct name is different from one site to the other.

what helped was chunga668's answer, I tried it and it worked. I don't know why it does it, I am a begginer at php, and phpnuke but the solutions works, for me at least. After a little bit more of testing, persona_non_grata do you keep your previous site open while accessing the admin on the other site on the same browser?

I still have the same problem in admin. Looping. My user names and passwords are different. I wonder if changing that to be the same will fix it? I'm going to try that in a bit.

There has to go to be a solution to this somewhere. I'll keep looking.

Have you tried clearing the cookies on the browser?

Okay, I made it work, without clearing my cookies...BUT...I had to use the same admin name as my root page. But I can get around with no problem now and that's fine with me.

The only thing is, if I want a different actual user name vs. admin name, I guess I will have to sign up with them on both pages.

Calberto, exactly what did you try from Chunga's posting? Resetting Zone Alarm?

I did the clearing of the cookies, which should clear everything dealing with logins.

Here is the quote that helped me
So, when you login to Nuke as Admin (for example) you look as though your logged in correctly but as soon as you click on something Nuke looks for the set 3rd party cookie which isn't there and *boom*, back out to the login screen (maybe???).
I think this is why your seeing some people that reset their site or flush their cache or correctly redirect their domain that resolve the login problems for them, but for others this doesn't work.
So for some the bug resembles a cookie problem, or a bad Nuke install or firewall config.
Whereas for the rest of us these *fixes* don't seem to work.
That part of his post is what helped me the most, and made me think about the cookies, after I cleared the cookies and before I went to my main site I logged in my secondary site and it worked! I did nothing to the secondary site between the reset of the cookies and the log in, and did not touch any other settings anywhere on my computer during that time, so for me that was what fixed it.

Further more, after my first post here of me fixing it, I did some more testing and it seems to only hapen when I have both sites open, main and secondary which both have the same everything except login names and URLs, on the same browser and I am logged into the main one (have not tested the other way around), when trying to log into the secondary site that's when it hapened again.

What you can try, so that it doesn't happen again, is to change the name of the cookie that is set through the forums, under configuration.

Good Luck, hope this helped.

PS the reason persona_non_grata does not have any problems is because he was using the same admin and pw name.

Mine seems to be working okay now. I did change the sitename for the cookies in config yesterday. But now my problem didn't only happen when both pages were open. It happened when I just had my extention page open.

I was wrong about the user name too. I can use a different one than my root site without it giving me hassles.

I'm just glad you figured it out!! That was a huge help to me. There is nothing more aggravating than a loop, I swear. LOL

Thanks bunches!!
