Hi guys;

first off- thanks for the work you do, have done, and are going to do. It's been a BIG help to the community as a whole over the years.

second: I'm not going to ask when the next version is going to be ready. Too many people have asked, and I know dates slip for various reasons- we all have lives to lead, families to support, etc.

third- looking from the announcements page about planned bundled mods, etc. Can an insight be provided into what WILL be in the distro? I know a version of some sort of photo album software will not be included. An idea of what will, and will not be included would be great.
If no photo album software will be bundled (unlikely looking at the posts), are there any suggestions? I hear Coppermine has too many holes; gallery 2 is a pain and can't be integrated too well (particularly when you want to embed images into another area of the site)- gallery 1.x I can probably do again- I just need to look at my old posts to see what the hack was I did before to play with Sentinel.....
Will some sort of paypal membership be included?

fourth. Migration. I've got a new site I'm needing to set up. My questions are: will there be an easy migration from an earlier version of RN? Or am I better waiting for the new version and start from scratch there?

I know some of these *may* have been asked/ answered before- apologies for duplication. I'm sure I'm probably not the only one with these sorts of questions. Even if a reply is placed into the announcement thread, so we can see what will be included, that would be great.

Lastly- does anyone have any suggestions with regards sites for RN themes? I saw a mention on another thread about "RN Certified" mods etc. If this could include themes, etc. that would be great. A RN Certified system would make it easier for us using the system- and by certified I mean mods/ themes/ blocks/ etc. that do NOT need to have code re-written- this will ease future migration to newer versions of RN....

Many thanks- oh and a belated Happy New Year Very Happy

You'll need to wait for the official announcement to get final info on what's in the release. However, if you look over at the official test site, ravennuke.com you can get a pretty good idea. Gremmie's calendar is in there and a comments module and some new mailing features and a vastly improved RSS feeds system, both incoming and outgoing. And that's just off the top.

Gallery has been discussed many times and you are right about it (or at least I agree with what you said). Gallery2 is just a big complicated and very capable product. Installing and running it is (again in my opinion) probably just as complicated as the rest of Ravennuke taken together. I do run it on my sites and it is very popular with the users, but you just need to be aware of the implications. No Paypal. I've done my own Paypal application and from doing that I'm not sure how you'd write a Paypal application for Nuke that would really be maintainable. Paypal keeps changing things and I'm just not sure how you'd keep a Ravennuke release up to date with that.

Migration will be a strong point. You will be able to run a script to upgrade from RN2.02.00, 2.02.02, 2.10.00 and 2.10.01. The 2.02.00 support was just added in the last week.

On the themes issue, again I don't know how we'd do that. It is a good idea but it requires someone who knows the details of RN to be sitting reviewing potentially hundreds of themes. I could be wrong but I just don't think that's in the cards. At some point we hope to simplify and document the theme architecture and, when that's done it might help but that will not be in 2.20.

And happy new years to you.

thanks for the response.....

as an aside (not sure if this is a bug) I came to the forum via the link in the mail; clicked "reply"- needed to log in- it took me to the forum page, not to the reply to the thread option...

Not sure if you are aware of that or not.

I'll register with the other site so I can keep an eye on developments. I'll probably upload the latest version currently available to get a feel for it/ re-skin the theme etc. if it will be possible to migrate easily enough.

Many thanks Very Happy

The forum "thing" is a feature, not a bug. It is deliberate because one thing hackers like to do most is to post spam in the forums. Almost all sites require you to be registered and signed in to post (including to reply) so it is logical to take you to the login screen if you try to reply and you aren't signed in.

I think he is saying that after he logged in it took him to the main forum page, not to the page he intended to reply to.

This has been a long standing phpnuke "feature". We will add this to enhancements for a future release. Thanks for reminding us Wink

WD has made a gallery specifically for PHP-Nuke and to tell you the truth it is not a bad gallery at all. I am sure that if raven or some other folks wanted to they could pick it apart but it is a nice add on and as secure as any other gallery i am guessing. It is called nuke reflections and has some nice enhancements with it.

Correct.

One thing I noticed with my 7.6 modded nuke, if it helps- it *may* be theme dependent? It did the same as here on one theme (a long time ago)- I think the theme we have now doesn't. It could be a bug, a flaw, an oversight, or maybe working properly, I'm not sure.

Thanks for the heads up with the other gallery- I'll take a look.

I'm currently investigating Joomla also for the same website I asked about in the first instance, but I do plan on updating my other one from a modded 7.6 to RN at some point.... Very Happy
