There is so much talent in this Community when it comes to graphics and I am calling out to you! I need to have a graphic created to represent RavenNuke(tm).
One idea I envision is something like a shield as the base graphic. Then within the shield a Raven with its wings enveloping the phpnuke image of the explosion. The Raven's enveloping wings will represent how RavenNuke(tm) contains and protects nuke users. Actually, now that I think of it, it would be something along the line of the FireFox Web Browser image except a Raven with wings instead of a fox if you get my drift .
Now that's from a non graphic's minded person! I said this would be a contest. Please post your ideas here. Please, nothing of questionable content . After we have all the submissions (don't let me down now, I'm being optimistic) and depending on how many submissions we have, we will select the favorite 2 or 3 and have a runoff selection. Or I may just mandate my favorite .
In any event the winner will receive 6 month's hosting for free, up to and including the Package 3/1 - Price: $13.95/month from [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] That's about an $84 value. Spread the word to everyone you know who might be interested! |

Subject to Ravens agreement, I would mandate that any submissions be in the png format to enable a degree of resizing whilst maintaining quality and should be supplied with three different backgrounds;
White
Black
Transparent |

I would think a .psd file would be better that way you can edit the image layers in photoshop if needed. |

Hmmmm. I don't use PS and never have. I suppose the experts use it or a similar tool but that might be blocking out those that use other methods? I don't know. But I do notice that the artists aren't rushing to participate . That's what I get for trying out optimism |

PhotoShop is very expensive so not everyone can use it or has it, though if anyone is using it and wants to provide the psd as well as png versions of the image that is great.
I used to use PhotoShop myself but now I try to stick to FOSS.
*Edited* For those that do not need/want the prize Raven mentioned or any alternative that may or may not be offered, I will also donate any three products from my Shop as an alternative prize.. |

Thanks JakeC
How about GIMP? It's made for all OS platforms if I remember correctly. |

This is a wonderful idea. I will be making my entry. Yes, photoshop, psp, corel, all are quite costly. I think that there are many affordable options for those of you who may not have the big programs. Good luck to everyone. I hope that many entries come! |

I think posted artwork should be posted with source file (psd, svg, cdr, xcf or whatever) to ensure the art is 100% original and to avoid, as you said, questionable content.
Also there should be at least three stages... in the first one everyone is allowed to post artwork, in the second one a poll is ran to take the best one out of them and in the third one three finalist are chosen and a new poll is setup to chose the best one...
Just my two cents... |

I believe that by "questionable content" he meant anything vulgar or adult in nature, something that may offend. But, I may be mistaken. |

Raven,
I was hoping to see some other entries before I posted mind, but here it goes. I do not know if these are what you were looking for. I am not even sure how nice they are, but I made several varriations. Perhaps one will appeal to you. If these are not what you were looking for in terms of design, let me know. I will be happy to try again.
I stayed away from the FF logo look as I did not want to bite off their design. That raven is a hard little bugger to make!! LOL I took some creative liberties with the description that you gave and I tried to make several different styles. Some that appeal to me and others that do not, but may to other people.
The reason for the globe is that I was thinking of RN protecting the nuke world.
I DO SO HOPE TO SEE MANY MORE ENTRIES FROM THE TALENTED PEOPLE HERE. Good luck to everyone!!

jaded Obviously Raven is the one judging the entries but I have to say, I really, really like the ones you did for the sixth row down with the Ravens wings 'protecting' the 'nuke world'. That is almost exactly what I had in my head when I read Ravens description - good work! |
