VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/23160/

CRITICAL: Moderately critical

IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, Exposure of sensitive information

SOFTWARE: JCE Admin Component 1.x (component for Joomla) - http://secunia.com/product/12839/

DESCRIPTION: Gummiente has discovered some vulnerabilities in the JCE Admin component for Joomla, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks and disclose sensitive information.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.0.4 with Security Patch (2006-08-21). Other versions may also be affected.

1) Input passed to the "img", "title", "w", and "h" parameters within jce.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

2) Input passed to the "plugin" and "file" parameters within jce.php is not properly verified before being used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources.

SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and verified.
