FB Writes: "Hello Nukers! PHP-Nuke 7.9 Final version is out now and available from here. This version includes a new variables validation and filtering system more effective and more secure, potential security vulnerabilities generated from the wysiwyg editor has been fixed, BBtoNuke 2.0.17, added banned IP edit function, improved search module internals, quotes and double quotes are now supported on all parts of the system, wysiwyg editor can be totaly deactivated from config.php file, users groups fixes to properly load the members modules, several fixes in the advertising system and many more.

Also, there is already a road map for the future version 8.0. Since it's a totaly new branch I planned lot of new features for that version. A new and redesigned administration system, more functional, more easy to use and more organization over its sections, new reorganization of Downloads module, more use of CSS style and many new features that all you'll love for sure.

The work of coding for the next version 8.0 will start in a couple of weeks since it requires lot of design first since the urgent need of a new administration system is one of the priorities for that release. You can expect improvements on almost all modules."
"

There are few suggestions and ideas from users that are really insane and maybe few of them will be applied to version 8. Features that all you'll like and all us will have fun by using it.

Second priority is a reorganization of the displayed data. There are some parts of the system that are just a total mess and requires urgent attention.

A new set of CSS style classes will be created having in mind the customization of the entire system.

In resume, will be a very interesting version for all us. For now, version 7.9 offers a good approach to a more secure and stable system and gave the base to start adding new stuff.

Thanks for reading and have a nice nuke day!"
Note:
I now have a copy - Thanks to a generous donor :). I and a few others will test it before making it available.

so like FB says.." There are some parts of the system that are just a total mess and requires urgent attention. "...isnt that the same as...it was junk and thats what i sold you ?

but looking at the tone he sets in the story were gonna have a 8.0 soon ,but he means realy 8.0 beta1 , 8.0 beta2, 8.0 beta3, 8.0 final.

So that would be 4 times $10

But as we all are waiting for the first person the "donate" the 7.9 for inside evaluation it is nice to notice how long it takes for anyone to get a copy, secured or not.
But would it be ok to say or to asume that the longer it takes to get a copy from "anyone" that not many people are buying that crap anymore?

As long as he's saying 8.0 will be coming out with all new stuff....I'm not touching 7.9...no reason anyone really should.

Well the thing thats strikes me as the most glaring mistake is;
We had 7.7 - 7.8 - were these 'Finals' too and he forgot to say so?
If not, they must have been Beta's or Alpha's right?
Or with the release of 7.9 Final - what happened to 7.9 Alpha or 7.9 Beta?

After musing this over, I have decide that any release with just numbers i.e. 7.7 or 7.8 etc means "Release what I have I need more beer money" and any release with 'Final" at the end means "I have forgoten where I was at so I'll release this and start another version next week".

Yeah, I agree with what you ar saying. His tone sounds like 7.9 is a complementary one to get more $ 10 (that's fine but ...) and 8.0 is the new stuff. So, when I read his announcement, 7.9 is the final fixation and/ or/ no beta is needed for 7.9 because 7.9 does not differ from 7.7/ 7.8/ But, this sounds 8.0/ is to make new $10s, as well.

I have only 1 comment.

After spending almost 400 hours recoding PHP-Nuke 7.8 from the ground up for 100% Compliance and full cross-browser compatability, and then seeing this hunk of junk PHP-Nuke 7.9 and now reading about 8.0, I do definately believe that it is truly time to make a new fork.

I do not believe that this hard work should be simply be wasted. I'm already doing now what FB is proposing for Nuke 8.0 and on top of that, I know for a fact that I can do it better than he can. As is demonstrated by my up and running test domains.

On top of that, I actually will be providing themes that are designed to work with PHP-Nuke, something that FB actually does NOT do. You will not find one single fully functional, nor compliant theme included with ANY Version of PHP-Nuke from Mr.Burzi. In fact, none of them even have forum templates, but rather fully rely on the bug filled SubSilver templates that are intended for administrative use.

To make matters even worse, Mr. Burzi mentions a rewrite of Administrative functions. I want to point out that he already did that starting with 7.5 and even more changes in 7.6. Now he proposes to do it AGAIN? Why the hell didn't he do it right the first time? As it is, we already have two different sets of compatability issues with 3 different Nuke platforms!

This means MORE incompatability, MORE problems and MORE broken promises. I mean the guy has just re-introduced all kinds of security issues that we fixed as far back as PHP-Nuke 7.0!

I've about had it with recoding FB's junk. It should be obvious to everyone that sooner or later, we that are forced to fix this stinky pile of code should simply STOP fixing it and go off in our own direction with a fork that is stable and predictable and allows users to have a bug-fixed, reliable solution with a compatible upgrade path as revisions are introduced.

I can see the new slogan for PHP-Nuke 8.0 now. "Nuke 8.0.... Where Themes, Blocks and Modules no longer work by design"

I fear PHPNuke is going down the same path as PHP. Stuff written for previous version may not work in future versions... :( I mean I will find it understanable if stuff written for real old versions not working but stuff for recent predessors I would except to work.
