FUD and Truth About Admin Hacks and Patches

Please don't worry about your admin.php file if you have applied Chat's latest patches along with my HTTP Authentication "technique" you will be protected at a much higher level, because, it requires a second level of authentication that you control. In addition, it matters not if they alter the GET, POST, COOKIE or whatever. Rest assured that our patches are as secure as they can be and thoroughly tested. And, when the kiddies come out with a variation, you don't have to change anything because it just doesn't matter. And, just for clarification, we have not yet elevated ourselves to a 'vendor' status. We are part of the community and intend to keep it informal.

That post at NC wasn't about security it was about fluff, image and attention. Sorry but if there is a security issue that needs to be cleared up wouldn't it be appropriate to contact the "Vendor" directly? The fact that no specific "Vendor" is named is just further evidence this was intended to stir up crap again.

To recapture the interest of members who have discovered the smaller sites out there are just as dedicated and are willing to go the extra steps to be sure people get the help they need regardless of the level of experience or standing in the community.

When I first started out with phpnuke there were many people who were willing to help. People like Chatserv, Bob M., NukeForums, Chris Karakas, AI who were willing to take the extra time to read a forum or feedback post to visit my site and really look at the problem. Raven who has been patient with me (Its a challenge trust me!) and lets me mess around here in my free time.

Its thanks to them and countless others like them that phpnuke has evolved beyond the vision of one man and became a platform from which almost any product can be sold, information can be shared organized and discussed. Including real security issues.

But more importantly they have helped people to understand what they can do with it themselves. For which they have earned an enormous amount of respect through out the internet community.

Which is why the obvious disrespect of the AdminTap message at NC by IACOJ really irk's me. But thats ok because what comes around goes around baby!
