Maybe I am out of line here, or maybe even just plain silly, but does anybody else feel that advertising/announcing something for free on all the Nukes sites should be kept to free/gpl announcements only ?

And if announcements/advertising are for chargable products, then it should be stated on the front page so there is no confusion ?

Actually, I totally agree. I have added comments to articles at times and just haven't had time, lately, to check them out, so as Site owner - MEA CULPA! I'm not sure if there is any other way to handle it though .....

So in other words we should always remember each time to include the word FREE in order to make you happy? - Why would it matter if its free or not? Is it that hard to click on a link to visit a site. It is not misleading in the slightest bit if this is what you're implying, because we do carry free themes. I am just amazed and the crap people complain about. Each webmaster has a right to descide how he/she wants to run their website content. If it was a major problem I am quite certain that they would have had (2) categories, one called Free Theme and the other Paid Themes. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Don't spend it all in one place.

Hey Shedrock, come on now, let's be objective about this :). When people are visiting many sites every day, especially looking for themes, it would just be nice to know ahead of time, if the theme that is advertized is free or not. What would it hurt to add a tag line to the effect of "This theme is not free but we have many that are!"?

Speaking for myself. I personally visit as many nuke sites as possible on a daily basis and have yet to complain about any of them advertising free stuff or not. I am just amazed that someone can actually complain about it. If it were illegal content, pornography or something like that, then I honestly can see the persons point. I usually don't comment on things like this but this one really caught my eyes. I do know that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and rightfully so, but think about it. We have greater problems in the world we live in and to see someone complain about an ad that does not state if its free or not just baffles me. Maybe I am missing something here, but I just found it silly. I usually see comments like that when people like everything for free. I have over 4000 users on my site, which is not much, but I just never saw a comment like this on my site or any other nuke site after I have posted an ad. All I can say is that its your website and I respect that, so if it is I have to post my ads letting people know that my themes are free or paid, then I have no problem with that. I just hope that other php-nuke websites will not follow this format.

Cheers!

I do know that other "major" nuke support sites routinely have their admins add comments about purchase vs. free, so this debate is not new nor unique. Having said that, I have no intentions of changing anything. This was simply a comment to a comment to a comment :). I see other article submitters starting to state when something is not free although I do not see this as a trend. I'm just saying it would be nice and what's the harm? It has nothing to do with wanting everything for free. It's but a courtesy to keep people from going to a site they are not interested in. Frankly, I visit your site every time you post a theme, regardless, so my comments are more commentary/opinion in nature anyway..

Calm down. I was making an observation and asking for opinions. You're over the top reaction certainly is unwarranted.

I still contend that when you use free advertising in a place where 99% of the advertising is for free products, then you have a moral obligation to state that your product is not free and that it is for commercial gain.

Do note that I am making to judgement on your products. They are very good and I believe that you are more than justified in looking for compensation for your effort.
