I have modified the shoutbox code that I use on my site (Brett Taylor's Shoutbox). Once I'm sure the modifications are to my liking (and working correctly) :) I will make the modified code available in the download if there is interest. The main reason for the mod's is to prevent name forgeries. The way the block is now functioning is:
- If user is an admin of the site, he can use any name he wishes.
- if user is not an admin but is a registered user, he will always post under his registered name.
- if user is not registered, he will automatically post under a username of Guest-IP.
Re: I'm Modifying The Shoutbox Block (Score: 1) | ![]() | I liked the idea from the shoutbox of using as a center block. Width of the sideblocks too wide in Opera. Maybe thats just a theme issue using pixals width? Like the Guest-IP idea. |

Thanks. The width is pretty much controlled by the application (not mine) and the theme. Note that I have integrated the shoutbox into my site-info block. That's not how it is packaged. It is packaged to be used as a standard nuke block. |
