I will check the log files and will try to check how they got in.
As far as the photo album, it seemed to be ok and had not been used by those guys.

It is in the language files:

replace the last entry with the origial from the english version:

define("_LINKSDATESTRING","%d-%b-%Y");

The Problem was here: ","%d.%b.%Y"); just a slight diff ...

Yep, there is my problem! So I should have used the 7.8 to 7.6 downgraded backup to make it work - darn!
So, how can I get out of this mess? Run the downgrader program again?

I did use the install scripts, but I guess that I somehow overwrote something in the database.
I also have a problem posting new stories. Preview is ok, then if I post it, it does not sho ...

So, I tryed to upload the backup, reinstalled the guestbook - and still same problem.
I confirmed that I'm running on:
Os: FreeBSD
PHP: 4.4.2
MySQL: 4.1.15-log
