Got this email from my hosting company:

We have found that your website www.guildair.net account was consuming/taking up excessive resources off the server. Please optimize and upgrade the scripts which your are using on your website. We have attached logs of the same for confirmation.

Anything I can do about this? They want me to upgrade to 7.7 or 7.8.

Confused

If they say thats an upgrade, a good idea to find a more complete and educated host(my opinion).

Thanks for the replies.

There is one thing I have thought of. I use something called Itemstats on my site. This searches another site's database and provides mouseover tooltips using BB code in forum posts. It caches the info in my own database however, so I can't see how this would increase server load.

Could this be causing the problem?

Wow, they're being real assholes - totally ignoring that fact I use Raven 7.6 and telling me 7.7 is more secure than vanilla 7.6.

They've also changed all my logins - control panel, ftp, the lot. So I can't even try a fix I have in mind until they decide to unsuspend my account.

Great customer service.

Time for a more complete host and just to let you know, the cannot retain any information on the server that does not belong to them and it doesnt.

Check the TOS out to see if they have already set a presidence for that situation.

And one more thing, please edit ur past and * out the foul language, thanx.

How are logs going to show your resource consumption? Tell them you're going to disable the site using NukeSentinel so you can check out the problem. Make sure nothing has been uploaded to your account without authorization (this happened to me two weeks ago - someone found a hole and installed a phishing site and a spam generator to reel people in - fortunately, I could it and closed the hole before any damage was done). Ask them to explain why they think upgrading to a newer, less-secure version of PHP-Nuike will reduce resource demand (it won't since there aren't any substantive performance improvements in 7.7 or higher). But mostly, ask what led them to believe your account using excessive resources (if they say look at the log, ask them to show you in the log).

Ultimately, you want a better host (I highly recommend Raven Web Hosting!). In the mean time, you might see what's being said about your current host at http://webhostingtalk.com - it's a great place to learn - and speak - about different web hosts.

Your host is talking absolute cobblers. I cannot believe in this day and age, that these so so called 'hosts' still resort to closing accounts instead of configuring the server correctly, not filling the server with accounts to make every last dollar they can from the server at the expense of performance.

As others have said, Raven Nuke actually performs much better than vanilla nuke.
I would be happy to take at look at their logs for you.
This is completely outrageous, they should have worked with you on this.

I agree. You need a host who knows more about nuke in general. Wanting a client to move up to something that is insecure by nature is rediculous. As has been said many of us offer hosting to nuke clients. You are welcome to host with Raven or any of the rest of us. I assume that they plan to give you a backup of your site or that you have one already. If so, it is in your best interest to change your host. I hope that doesnt put you out financially.
