okay to answer both in order...
we want to display seperate news on seperate pages, hence having two module.
the would be a link on the main module - to the news, eg.
[main module]
PSP
-----News
-----Tutorials
Xbox
------News
------Tutorials
so you would click news under psp heading to see psp news, and xbox (news) to see xbox news
the main module will stay as is on root page - displaying website news/developments
im not too fussed about having submit news - other than the default one
Guardian -
we are currently using the tuts module - but our ultimate goal is to seperate them like the news - but if thats not possible....
im not a fan of cats - although this is somewhat tidier - i would prefer it the way i have mentioned
hope this clears things up
thanks

Right, I understand.
Now what I'm about to say is just 'food for thought' and nothing else but someone in a similar situation may benefit from it so lets roll the dice...........
If you were to use something like theSommaire custom menu block, you could actually (quite easily through the blocks admin area) change the links for
PSP News
Xbox News
to load different news categories to the front page which would in effect, give you the sort of thing you wanted - different pages for different news AND it would keep all the 'vote for this articles' etc data synched as you would still be using the default module.
Likewise, Submit News would still work with ALL news.
Of course, with something like the Sommaire custom menu block, you would also be able to create seperate links for yout tuts as well by using the url to the tut category rather than the tut main page.
I appreciate you want seperate modules and your reasons why but I'd be failing in my duties not to explain other options which from a maintenance point of view (security updates, patches etc) might be easier to implement and manage.
Good luck though with your plans, sounds interesting. |

to be honest i was not aware of such a mod -
but there are also other benifits - or at least i believe there will be with the way we want to do things.
presumable - as the news articles run from the differnt prefixes and differnt admin news panels, it will allow for greater control over junior admins.
as if i have a admin that only writes about psp
- i dont want him to be able to edit/ post news about xbox, if he doesnt know what hes talking about. as i said i am presuming that result
as this has never been done before to my knowledge, i cant be 100% on that.
your points are interesting though - if i didnt feel strongly about getting this working (i know darklord is going to be working on this, but im trying my damnedest to figure out why i cant do it )
then i would be very tempted to use that.
thanks for the info |

Adding me, uhh.
I dont think I have gotten your msn adding. This weekend is when I run service calls all weekend and I find myself having only about 2 to 3 hours a day of working on this, I will work as fast as possible. |
