A new cms?

I just wanted to know if a new cms to almost replace nuke was in developement, I've seen post referring to a form but wasnt sure if the developement was in the thinking about it stage or if it was being developed or what the status was, Just a question I figure would be best addressed here.

a new cms ?...lol...no i dont think so...
this is discussed a few times but it will never survive,just like other clones out there.
they exist but are far from being unique.
Best after nuke is joomla.
and...combining these 2 would create the best cms ever...

Different people have different requirements, and there are a number of CMS applications to meet various needs. I agree with hitwalker that Joomla is very good, but I'm not sure trying to combine it with PHP-Nuke makes sense. That doesn't mean they can't share ideas, etc...stay tuned.

To be honest, I'd like to see the wheel reinvented so to say. I'd like to see a cms which is LIKE nuke in the aspects of look feel and functionality but would like to see nuke takin to the next level. Themes are one of nukes greatest benefits, It can be made to look like anything and it incorporates so many different ideas and aspects of coding that it makes me personally feel like I'm surrounded by all types of scripting languages that can be altered to do anything.

I guess I'd personally like to see something with nukes flair but without its security holes.

If I could code this I would,

I'd like to see things like style stored in the database.
Modules and uch addons built seperate from the core files. Id also like to see a site function like t would with sentinel without sentinel. A REAL filtering system. I like the wysiwyg editor, But I'd like to see something made for the code and not a generalized code that works by integrating into the heart of the cms.

Id like to see a module maker built into a cms, Something that can store whole modules in a database or a file to call on and be edited from the admin panel.
I have a TON of ideas of things to do with a new cms or change a preexisting one.

I know, It looks like I want to rewrite nuke in a day. Not really the case though, I host and I love it. I build sites and I love it.

This is what I love to do so yes, I put my ALL into it.

And would love to learn all this in a day, but I have LOTS to learn and am only on a small step looking up at 20 stories to go, I just want to look at website bulding like this for as long as I can (before my girlfriend pulls me away from it) Laughing

Dragonfly is also very good.
I think nuke remains so popular because of all the add-on modules, hacks, blocks etc that can be used with it and give it the flexibility any CMS needs to cater to the widest audience.

Who knows what is around the corner though Wink

There are new CMS's on the horizing but they will NOT be nuke replacements.
These new systems aim to use the new standards and go with the flow of WWW2.

I'm working on one of them for more then 1.5 years now and a alpha release is planned 3/4 of this year.
Other people are also working on brand new systems.

The difference here is that they use PHP 5, PostgreSQL 8/MySQL 5, XHTML, CSS2, Digest Authorization and AJAX, and they still have plenty of time before hosting providers upgrade their systems.

New CMS? yes
Nuke replacement? no
