Hi,
Someone installed menalto gallery2 for us and is having problems fixing it,
can anyone help if they know menalto gallery2 please,
it is something related to the embedding setup in nuke 7.6, when members get the activation e-mail and click on it, there is this error everytime now.
Warning: activate(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/embed.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/nissan4x4ownersclub.co.uk/httpdocs:/tmp) in /var/www/vhosts/oursite.blah/httpdocs/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 635
Warning: activate(/embed.php): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in /var/www/vhosts/oursite.blah/httpdocs/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 635
Fatal error: activate(): Failed opening required '/embed.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/vhosts/oursite.blah/httpdocs/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 635
now if they close the error page and login from fresh page on site login, all is ok and they are activated?????????????
any help would be more than appreciated on this please.
thanks

well reading the install shows or atleast lets me believe editing the your-account index isnt realy needed.
as it says...
If you want to have the added feature of users being added to your Gallery 2 installation when they activate their PHPNuke user account, you will need to do the following...
personaly i would avoid that...
if i would start my gallery again i run it,not other members and certainly not giving upload rights....
in the install edit lines it does show the file that is causing your problem..
here :require_once ($embedphpfile."/embed.php");
its called 2 time i believe...
but for whatever reason...the gallery doesnt find it....
contact the person who installed it and take out the whole.. feature of users being added to your Gallery...and see what happens then... |

this is the problem i'm having, we paid a guy who has done some work but is harder to get back and finish the jobs, that it is to predict the next weeks winning lottery.
so looks like i'm on my own again, i have been reading the menalto installation readme etc, and if i'm right, it must be installed in the modules folder?
we have a gallery2 in the root and the modules folder? the gallery2 folder in the root contains all the files etc like embed.php, config.php etc, now the gallery2 folder in the modules contains hardly anything, just 3 folder admin/languages/images and index.php,
is this the correct way to install it?
if you have any knowledge on fixing this so it runs as it should, would you sort it out please of course i will pay you if you can let me know how much it will cost,
thanks

well as the mod install says...
Gallery 2 must be installed into the "modules" directory of your PHPNuke installation.
So as i understand the big gallery has to be installed in your site roor...(yeah its weird)
and the mod itself has to be installed as your normaly would do... |

I actually had the embed.php issue as well - but it turns out that it has to do with an inconsistency in the integration package and the nuke database. Very weird.

It's a shame they dropped out of the box integration with Nuke from 2.x, to make matters worse 1.53 has issues with the new album page even on standalone mode |

Well guys, i have successfully installed gallery 2, on 3 different CMSs.
I have had, and fixed quite a few issues ive had with it, and might be able to help if its still needed.
I can most likely install it on our ravennuke, and update you guys with what problems, and fixes I can.
For one, the way you are supposed to install it in php nuke, is to install it in the modules/gallery2 folder first.
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gallery/gallery-2.1.1a-full.zip
Unzip, and run through the installation instructions. Their installer is awesome, and is very easy to upgrade / use.
Once you have it installed into the modules folder, you will need the integration package.
Gallery 2 Integration for PHP-Nuke can be found here:
http://www.nukedgallery.net/downloads-cat11.html
Upload the files it says to upload, and follow the instructions.
It is best to install gallery in its on database.
I have succesully used the same database in PNC, and Phpnuke......and I will update once I install it in ravennuke. |

That is a very helpful summary ciph3r. I also have Gallery2 installed on two sites and have gone thru the learning process of installing it several times. There are a couple of other considerations.
1. People should read the options at:
Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!
Then they can do the "typical" install but at least they will know where additional features can be found.
2. If you download the zip or tar.gz file and then "explode" it on your home computer you will wind up with something like 2700 files. Trying to get that all to FTP up to a server can be a PITA. Even knowing whether it transferred properly can be a pain. And if it didn't and there are some incomplete or missing directories you are in for a great joy ride. So, I'd recommend sending the tar.gz file up to your server and then decompressing it there. Most servers have some tools for doing that. And as you say, stick the tar.gz or zip file in /modules/gallery2. If you put it in the wrong place your installation won't work.
3. I'm not sure what you meant about "it's own database". Gallery has it's own prefix for its tables and it fits just fine in the standard Nuke database. I don't know what the advantage would be to having it separate.
You will see instructions during install for locating the albums directory. It should go outside your web root for security purposes. However there is a lot of confusion in the menalto and nukedgallery forums about proper privileges for the album directory. On one site I have it running 755 and the other it has to be 777 to work. You will see instructions in the forums to "recursively chmod" the albums directory to 777. With 2700 files this is almost impossible to do as a normal user. You may need to contact your server administrator to have him do it for you. If your site works at 755 just leave it but if you start encountering problems don't beat your head against the wall just get the server admin to do the chmod for you. |
