Hello Everyone,

I been looking around for few months now and asking lotz of Questions About "When" or Even "IF" ever that a PHP-Nuke is Gonna Release a Version 8 of its product and if they were then when? and what it would consist of.

Basically im Asking if anyone has heard Anything Yet. Hopefully they are and it is being loaded with new features and options...
Like having the options of Using Multiple types of Forums .. instead of only plain boring PHPBB...

Lets say "INVISION P.B." or "SMF" or "Vbulletin" maybe few others.

I hope and wish they did make other versions with those.... That would ROCK.....

Anyway... If anyone has any news on a new version 8 of php-nuke.... Please post, That would be great.

Also if anyone has any fresh Ideas for a New version of Nuke... Please Post all your Ideas here...
Maybe and hopfully the Nuke creators will see this post.

Cool Wink

If you're looking for "official" news of the 8.0 release, check the source: http://phpnuke.org.

That said, I haven't heard anything about supporting other forums, except the possibly of creating a PHP-Nuke forum (i.e. not Invision, SMF, Vbulletin, or phpBB).

The only concrete addition I've heard of for 8.0 is "META tag management" (whatever that means). But you don't need 8.0 to do that - you can download my nukeSEO tool and get META tag editing and a lot more.

Of course I'm biased, but I'm much more interested in the new release of RavenNuke since it is 1) secured, 2) tested, 3) includes tweaks and enhancements that webmasters really want, and, possibly most importantly, 4) supported by an active team around the world.

On the subject of 'forums', I'll say just this;
How many years has FB been using the port of phpBB within Nuke?
... and he still has not got it running right!!!!!!!!!
There are STILL issue with the integration of Your_Account / Forum profile, there are STILL issues with forum language dependant buttons, there are STILL issues with nuke forum 'themes' integration. and the list goes on!!!!!!!

i really wish they would integrate PHP-Nuke With Invision Power Board.... its the Best the Forum managment on web, very secure too with too many functions and capabilities.... i seen some of the most amazinglly altered websites that used IBP as the base... they were so altered and modded that they didnt even look like IBP... many effects/scripts were added... many things that phpbb will never do.

i really hope they can... phpbb doesnt have enough functions for controll over the forums. too many bugs as well.

anyway....lol

I think the license would prevent the use of IPB
Quote:

* reverse engineer, disassemble, or create derivative works based on the Software for distribution or usage outside your web site
* use the Software in such as way as to condone or encourage terrorism, promote or provide pirated Software, or any other form of illegal or damaging activity
* modify and/or remove any copyright notices or labels on the Software on each page (unless copyright output removal license is purchased) and in the header of each script source file
* distribute the Software
* distribute individual copies of files, libraries, or other programming material in the Software package
* distribute or modify proprietary graphics, HTML, or CSS packaged with the Software for use in Software applications other than Invision Power Board or web sites without written permission from IPS
* modify the software to function in more than instance or location (URL, domain, subdomain, etc.) from a single set of source program files unless each location is separately licensed

Yep its a licensing problem. Same with vB. Really the only other major alternative that's free is SMF.

Anyway, who knows when FB will release 8.0. He doesn't really share or take input from the rest of the Nuke community. Otherwise he'd release better tested, patched, and secure software rather than adding junk features Smile

If you believe the word on the street v8 will contain its own forum abomination and no longer support phpbb.

That topic was posted in January so 'the next few months' has already been stretched to three quarters of a year.

Doesn't look like the Pixel Ads have taken off either. So there won't be much of a PHP Nuke headquarters, maybe a shed!
