How to Disable Right blocks in news module?

Did have a search but unless I'm going blind I couldn't see how to do this ...
How do I get rid of the right hand blocks (rate article, more news etc etc) in the news module?

I'm guessing for that stuff I would need to delete some parts of the index.php file in the news section right?
I have tried messing around with the index=1 thingy which you normally do for right hand blocks but doesn't get rid of it for some reason.

Unfortunately those blocks are hard-coded into the modules/News/article.php file
You will have to find and remove those references

Just be careful in that there is a news admin "block" on most themes and that is the only way for you to "Edit" a news article! Some themes provide other links and/or icons for editing and even some replacement News modules do this as well. You will just need to watch out for that. You would hate to be forced to use phpMyAdmin to modify a news submission that has already been posted.
