Hi! after weeks of been searching I finally found what I was looking for: a good blog, replacement for the old journal module. I had to pay to join to some site's club to get to the download, thinking it would worth it.
Could you imagine my surprise when I discovered it used some old stuff I didn't understand?:
for example, it uses:
instead of
Code:(defined('FORUM_ADMIN'))
|
I've tried to fix that, but it's too much for a newb like me.
So, I would like to know if anyone knows a better blog module, or if someone can tell me how to fix my old wpnuke.
thanks in advance. |

ascrom - I'd be happy to take a look as I use WordPress myself.
Failing that, can you give me a link so I can buy it myself? |

The first thing I need to determine is if it is even worth the trouble - no offence!
A quick glance seems to indicate it is a fairly old version of WP so the first thing I need to do is check all the vulnerability alerts and see if its possible to fix up what we have (as far as the WP files are concerned) - the problem being it is not a simple matter of just grabbing the latest files as from version 1.8.6 WP requires PHP 5.x.x to run (they are certainly not supporting anything below that level).
Bringing the 'wrapper' up to the latest patch level shouldn't be too much of problem.
One thing that does worry me from the quick glance I have had is the way it is sharing the user permissions bwtween WP and Nuke.
0 - is anonymous for nuke and for WP that means the user cannot create a blog, that seems reasonable enough.
1 - in nuke is a registered user and in WP this will allow them to create their own blog, that too seems quite reasonable.
Then we hit a slight snag, WP requires a user permission of 10 for a superuser whereas Nuke is 4 if I remember correctly but it is possible the WP integration gets around that but obviously I need to check (it might actually be using the 'forum' user status rather than nukes.
It's certainly an interesting port and one I'm looking forward to getting a grip of but please remember I'm pretty snowed under with Raven Nuke development/testing and of course my own modules like Spam Stopper so it's not going to be released this side of Christmas thats for sure.
But yes, of course, I'll make it publicly available once completed |
