Anyone have any thoughts on why my pnp76b4v2 site is so slow? It's starting to suck the life outta me!!

It's run off 1and1, if that matters.....

Thanx,

Don't know for sure about 1and1, but the usual suspects are links to external resources which pull back information / graphics to your site. If any one of those sites are busy, your site will suffer. It is why I got rid of most of that on my site. Of course, a busy shared server is the other killer. Also, make sure you optimize your DB every so often (it is an option within Nuke's administration panel).

I would definitely ask your host if they can point out anything out of the norm.

I changed hosts because I found 1and1 to have gotten really slow. Sad

Probably on their shared servers, phpNuke would take more resources. Of course you can always ask them. If they say it is the application.. well, get yourself another host Smile

I think they oversell on their shared servers, my new host is 10 times faster, actually probably more than that. Wink

Same here, they were good at first, but got slower and slower as time passed.

Sadly, or maybe happily, guess it depends on how you look at it, you guys are correct. I moved to a different hosting company, problem solved. For the love of god ppl, DON'T use 1and1!! At least not for a php-nuke site.

Thanx for input....

I use their root server. That way, I control all of the resources that are being used. They also have a managed server plan. Either way, I'm not sharing with anyone Smile
(Of course it may be too expensive for some people. But you get what you pay for)
