You would need to delete the Sentinel block in the sentinel tables - reloading the files does not clear the data

Slinger since you went the route of rebuilding from scratch, I would recommend going to Ravens Distro PhpNuke 7.6.... Laughing

thanks guys, firstly where will i find the sentinel block in the sentinel tables? i presume this is a case of into cpanel, mysql and click the link for phpadmin and looking in there to find the info.
What advantages would i get from ravens distro phpnuke 7.6 over the pnc that i'm using at the moment as the pnc is clan based and has just what i need for the clan website with regards to blocks etc

If you have blocked your IP then it can be found in two places:

1. htaccess ... you will have to edit this with cpanel or an ftp client to remove your IP.
2. the nsnst_blocked_ips table .. you can use phpmyadmin to "edit" this to delete the record with your ip in it.

The advantage of Ravennuke is that it's integrated ... you get Sentinel and several other goodies right with it. RN2.02 is getting a bit "dated" as far as Sentinel and Forums go but you can still start with it and get the advantage of integration. There is a handy installation process too, it still takes some care for you to follow the instructions fully but it's better than doing it all by hand.

As to clan based stuff (blocks etc.) I can't address that. If they are standard PHPnuke you should be able to add them to RN. I really can't say how much more work that would be and you will have to be the judge. But RN is the most secure distribution there is and that's worth a lot too ... probably worth mentioning that all the patches to Nuke are also included in RN and they address a lot of security concerns. I don't know if the distribution you are using has that.

Just as fkelly stated...most secure distribution there is (IMO)..... Very Happy By clan blocks do you mean such as teamspeak, ventrilo, vwar, etc, etc, etc???

checked the ip blocking and my ip is not in either but with the sentinel running still wont let me log in.
found a piece in the forums to disable it by commenting it out so have done that for the time being as the site isnt live at the mo. But will need to do something to sort it out before i go live

can i edit the sentinel admins and passwords without having to delete everything ?
if so where is it and how can i do it, because if i re-enable it then i can't get into the admin side of my site.
