I'm trying to mod the karate theme to remove the TOPICS menu shown in the top header on the home page

AYK it uses a theme.php rather than a header.html

I removed the bit I thought, but it wasn't Wink

Could someone indicate the lines I should comment out?

And a PHP comment is // correct ??
Or multiple line /* and */

I may also want to remove the top search field as well, as it will probably look better as a side block, but hopefully I'll get it after this Wink

The easiest thing to do is to just work through it yourself and learn Smile. Find all instances of the word 'topic' and start removing, having made a backup first.

Cheers Raven,

I sussed it in the end. I'd missed a table tag which was closely integrated with the search bit. Removing both search and topic made it dead easy Wink

I can see that it basically just prints an html string, part of which is an sql query - in laymans language Wink
Presumably DOT at the line start means concentate (join) in PHP speak then?

I will have to learn PHP then. I can do basic, ASP, javascript & lingo.
I've just been trying to avoid yet another syntax.

Maybe I'll do a tutorial on what I did.
I think non coders should be able to do this more easily, especially when it's a design issue like this.

The entire theme [lack of] methodology in nuke leaves everything to be desired. Since there are so many ways to do things, there is no standard, and that perpetuates the confusion and high learning curve.

Cheers Raven,

But at least if we ilustrated "a way" then it could act as a seed.
Anyway down to me now Wink
