How to upgrade from 7.5 to latest 2.02.02 advise

Hi all

I have a 7.5 site and would like to update to the latest release 2.02.02
All I am interested in keeping is the content of the forums and the users,

all the rest can go as there is only a few stories that can be retyped.

any advice would be greatfull received... many thanks

There are many, many posts on this issue. Search.

Generally you need to make your table structures compatible with the latest RN distribution. In your case you might "save off" the Forums tables and the users tables and then load a fresh distribution and run the install and setup steps, then restore your saved off tables. But there are other approaches that will work too, again they are discussed at length in these forums.

As for 2.02 ... well you might want to wait a few days cause 2.10 is pretty imminent. Save yourself a few steps unless you absolutely need to do it today.

OK thanks for the feedback.... I will continue to play as I have minimal knowledge of sql so a big learning curve on its way.....

The wait is going to be so worth it. And the learning curve isn't so bad either. Are you familiar with phpmyAdmin?
