Hi All,
i want to add a button to check username availability on YOUR_ACCOUNT module so like digg.com user can check name on same page.
now in this module after user press CONTINUE button and in NEW page, availablity of user name shown. i think it can be down by PHP & AJAX but don't known HOW?
any help?!

Welcome.

If I remember correctly, there is a function that checks the user name (it's looking at the user table and temp user table to see if the user name exists. You could use this same function (or just have a new one that does the same check). Wouldn't have to be AJAX, though that might allow a check without refreshing the page.

One thing to consider - some might use that function for malicious purposes (though I don't see what those might be - people come up with all sorts of crazy things...). Then again, they could do the same thing by looking at the member list, if that is available on your site.
