I think a good enhancement would be an option to select which topics we want to display on home page if news module is set to home page.
What do you guys think about that?

Not a bad idea...

Do you mean, set each topic individually or just the topic categories?

You could probably hack that in fairly easily...if the topic number variable isn't set you could jam it to whatever value you wanted.

Metopen does it for sure, but I'm talking about something simpler than that. Simple check box option for topics that should be displayed on home page and possibility to set it from admin.

I'm actually in the process of modifying MetOpen. It's a pretty cool module, but thing that definitely should be there is image thumbnails creation on the fly. For example, if you have a story that has a picture in story text then it would be nice to set fixed size of thumbnail when it's displayed on the home page. Then once the full story is open the default size is displayed. I hope it makes sense.

Good ideas for future renditions of NSN News 2.x if that is going to move forward...

Pardon my ignorance, but what does NSN stand for?
