...I just posted a new story and the id number is 26. So, my question is, where are the other 25 stories hidden after I restored the site from a backed up database?

I've tried looking at the back up database but I don't see a nuke_stories_archives or anything about "archives"....

Is there a way to restore the stories? I don't even see it in phpmyadmin. I only see the 3 stories currently there.....dare I ask if the db backup did not include the "archives"?

For some reason, I get a feeling that the "stories archives" are/were not backed up....

If you have stories they will be in your stories table, there is no archive table. It could be that the autoincrement story id field has just been ratcheted up (have you deleted any stories in the past)? It may also be possible that when you restored from an earlier database you got only the older 3 stories from the backup, but the story ID remained unchanged. In general, that is what you want to have happen.

ahhh...ok. so all I have to do is go into my phpmyadmin and change the story id back to 1, 2, 3 correct?

If so, that sounds easy enough. I guess we can always recreate the stories....

Thanks Gremmie!

if you are only supposed to have 3, then I see no reason to change the auto-increment number. In other words, I am not sure that having gaps in the story id will hurt anything? Does anyone know this for certain? I don't have time to look through the code at the moment (I don't think it matters).

Don't worry about the story ID number, it doesn't have any meaning to humans. I'd just leave it alone. Wink
