New Setup - Error in installSQL.php step 6 of 6

Hi - I was recommended by clan-themes to drop phpnuke 8.1 and go with RavenNuke - so here I am . .. .

Issue 1

I am having an issue with the initial install running - installSQL.php

Everything goes smoothly until I get to 6 of 6 - Load IP2COUNTRY Data Part 6/6

I get this error:

The exact error message that your MySQL server reported is:
MySQL Error # 4 = Duplicate entry '3330801664-3330807807' for key 1

The installer says Step 6 is optional - do I just not do step six and drive on?

Or is there a way to fix this?

Issue 2

I also have another install question. In PHPNUKE 8.1 I had Approve_Membership6.1.6-8.1 and vWar loaded

I did a lot of searching on Approve members and most of what I read was old - 2006 stuff - what is the recent opinion on Approve membership? I understand that its not recommended due to the swap out of that entire nuke folder and all its contents . . and due to BB updates .. . Has anything chnaged on that? If not what can I setup that is safe that will allow me to approve members before they are allllowed in? I want a stable nuke setup - thats why I am here - so if its a really bad idea let me know? Is there another option?

Also - I really want to run vWar since we are a gaming clan. The guys at clan-themes advised against that - saying it was not secure . .. That is a bummer since that app looks great for gaming clans. Vwar_1.5_R15.2_PHP_Nuke_Hi-Wire is what I want to run - even has a page that tells you when you need to update. Is it a bad idea to run that too?

#1 - That should/would only happen if you tried to load the data into a file that already existed. Make sure that you aren't trying to do step 6a-6f into a table that is already populated. Use phpMyAdmin and EMPTY the ip2country table and then try again.

#2 - vWar has been one of the most hacked applications that I know of next to phpNuke itself ROTFL

. I would not recommend it at all.

#2 - As to Approve Membership, I have no comments because I've never had need for it.

I did them in order one at a time - waiting 5 minutes between steps .. first 6a . .. 6b . .. etc . .. I am not sure what you mean by trying to load the data into a table that already exists since I am just clicking on the install steps in sequential order . . .

Maybe I am missing something but its the install routine at step 6f - the last step - that loads "data into a file that already exists"

How would I change that when the setup does it all?

I did the install twice - totally blowing away the sql database and starting over and got the same error both times . . .

I did not want to do it a 3rd time so I finished up with the setup instructions and the site seems to be working . .. Is there something wrong with the site if not all 6 steps complete?

I will empty the table as you suggested and try again . . .

Ok - I will tell my clanmates that vWar is not a good idea . . .

I will do further research on Approve members. If anyone is using some sort of method to not allow automatic account registration please let me know !

chaos_coa, well, it sounds like you're doing everything correctly. I can't explain it. Have you tried just doing step 6 (not 6a-6b)?

Yup . . . I get the error relating to too many sql commands . . forget the exact message .. but it was in your forums FAQ . . my host limits me to 50 thousand . .. is it queries?

so I tried the other path . ..

Since we know that the data is not duplicated in the downloads, have you tried re-ftping the sql files? They may have gotten corrupted. Make sure that you are using a binary transfer.

I got it to work . . . must have been a limitation of the host.

I did the EMPTY the ip2country table

I did steps 1 through 4

Waited a half hour or so .. and went back and did 5 and 6 . ..

This time it completed !

I also figured out something else today that was just killing me. LOL

I could never log out as admin - I would log out - and the screen would refresh and log me right back in as admin. A total loop.

I cleared my saved paswords . .. and then did not have IE remember the login and pass to the portal . . . no more loop . .. Live and learn . . .

chaos_coa, regarding Approved Membership Module, I have used it for about three years now. You are right, the project seems have slowed some. I took the original AMM and stripped out all the "additional field" stuff (which that feature requires modifying core nuke tables which I do not agree with doing) and I create a "Lite" version which just has the approval piece. You can get it from my downloads. It is ONLY for RavenNuke 2.10.00 and above.

I take it your module does not have the ame issues when updates are put out for nuke abd the bulletin board? We would really like this functionality but we are not real hard core coders. I rember from reading posts here people warned against the full version of approve members because of the line by line chnages that would have to be made when uodates are made . .

I logged into montegoscripts.com but I do not see a link to the lite version . .

on the site phpnuke-database.com - is the app? current version an all?

chaos_coa, just search for "Approve" in the downloads search... Wink

You can get it from phpnuke-database.com if you prefer to not get it from the author/source... All he does is steal downloads from other people and make them available there...
