Not sure where to post this but here goes.
I have been trying to find a way to not allow anonymous users to view members profiles via the The newest registered user is "......" link in the forums module. I do not want registered members E-mail etc available to anyone other than members. The forums require both anonymous and registered access.
I have looked all over and maybe I missed something.
I know how to do it if I am using a stand alone PHPBB forum but not in RavenNuke.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

The email shouldn't be displayed at all if "User email via board" is enabled in your Forums Configuration. |

Thanks for the input and am aware of that but I was also referring to all the information that is displayed in the viewprofile fields.
Appreciate the info. |

I just checked on my site, going in as anonymous, and I cannot see profiles on most of my users (I checked phpMyAdmin too), so I don't think they are ON by default to show emails. If you are logged in as admin, you will see all of them, but anonymous should not UNLESS they have expressly within their own account modified their settings to show their email. |

Thanks for the feedback.
Montego.. I went to your forums under anonymous and am able to see who the newest user is. At the time of posting I can see The newest registered user is pjXXXXXX (added the x's)
I can click on users name.... Now in this example the user does not have an Visible Email address. There is the PM link but obviously can;t use that (restricted). But what about if the user had put in there MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, location etc information.
This would be displayed (I believe) and I could use this information for spam etc...
Maybe I am wrong.
Maybe I need to be a bit more clear in my posts. I am trying to find away to not allow anonymous user any access to the profile via the "The newest registered user is" link.
I know it will only show the user currently defined here but that is still someones info available to the general public. |

All you need to do is remove the hyperlink addition to the newset user's name. Should be extremely simple to do. If you're not comfortable with tracking down and altering code, I can do it for you.
But... you say you can do it for a standalone phpBB? There should be no problem with a RN phpBB then. Can you describe why it works for one but not the other? The filesystems are almost identical nowadays. That was the whole point of making them more or less identical, so that standalone phpBB hacks would cross over without too much extra effort.

Its not enough to remove this hyperlink because there are several places within the forums wich shows the profile e.g. last post or members online within the last 5 minutes, forums block etc.
So this is not extemly simple to do. I had this in a previous version of my forum and the problem is whenever there is a new forums version out you can“t easily upgrade.
You could use e.g. some of this tips here:
