Hello guys, I am planning to launch a new Phpnuke website which will be a web hosting & designing Solutions providing Specific! I am looking for some advises on how to start! Which Phpnuke version to use. Well I have tested Ravenuke v2.10.01 a couple of months ago and i find it very handy. Will RavenNuke v2.10.01 support Hosting scripts as well? How secure is Ravennuke to carry on Financial Transactions? These are some of the questions I would like to discuss today.

Well, to be specific, what are the steps to be taken to start a hosting website with phpnuke? preferably with RavenNuke?

I do apologize if i have asked a lot of questions in a single thread!

NB: Hosting, domain, etc are ready with me.

Thanks
Nagahosting

phpNuke is a Content Management System. It provides features to run your own site, but its not a hosting software. There are scripts that will provide such functionality, but I don't know of any specifically for phpNuke.

As far as I'm concerned, the website should not house any kind of financial data. phpNuke could be the front-end website for your company, but I would recommend a serious professional commercial payment software for the backend (something that will handle secured credit card payments) and a server-level script for hosting (Plesk, cPanel, etc).

You could ask Raven what he uses. I'm sure its cPanel for the webhosting parts, as for how he handles payments, my guess is Paypal.

DaDaNuke offers a Hosting module for phpnuke, which might be useful for the frontend. I've never used it myself though.

I too would not use PHP-Nuke for anything serious. You could however marry PHP-Nuke up to a strong back-end as evaders suggests. I've been reading about Paypal's site integration tools. Download their various pdf files they have for website integration. They have tools for hooking up your site to their shopping carts and your site can receive notifications when you receive a paypal payment with their IPN (Instant Payment Notification) system.

I believe the Hosting module integrates with cPanel, but not sure about the payment side, but as Gremmie says it should be possible to use Paypal.

Thank you so much for pouring good ideas! I am very pleased to learn all these here.

I personally feel Php-nuke shouldn't be used to carry transactions online. But i was hoping a miracle which in case if anyone of you have already tried using it & found successful:p Now, I have found out some ideas on where to stick as you guys have suggested. Thanks jakec, I will check out the Dadanuke's module you advised me.
Evaders99 & Gremmie, wow great indeed! I will check out all those tools you guys have mentioned.

I would still like to see more inputs from you all:) Perhaps more suggestions on the softwares for creating such websites & payment system? I have searched google and other stuff but my mind is conflicting because all the softwares i can see online mentioned "Best". So many "Bests". Please enlighten me more ...

Thanks:)

Plesk, cPanel, and vDeck all provide the hosting controls you'd need. Of course these are commercial products and require a fair amount of money for a license. If you're starting a hosting business though, they are highly recommended.

Cool:) Btw is Cpanel which we normally get while buying hosting plans different from the Cpanel you are talking here? I am little confused as well. If they are same... I already got the Cpanel with me and WHM as well:). Anyways. thanks a lot for the suggestions. I will get back again if any new doubts strike me again.

Cheers

Yep its that cPanel. If you have that already set up, then you have the hard part already done.

ah... exactly.! I asked my friend today about it. and he suggested me of installing whm autopilot. I think thats the main part. I hope autopilot will be able to install easily in any template including phpnuke(my priority) or html pages. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I believe cPanel has Fantastico. While I don't really recommend using it, Fantastico does allow quick auto-setups of many applications like phpNuke.

True! I feel the same. I have tried using it when i first started a phpnuke site in 2006. Not very interesting.

Well, I have setup RavenNuke now! Its working great... Only thing left is the hosting script i was talking about in the first place!

I don't really understand. What do you define to be a 'hosting script'?

Oh sorry for the confusion... What I mean to say is that I still have to work on the payment options (whm autopilot, simple cart or whatever is ) which should be made available for the customers to order online. Sorry about that:(

WHM AP (Auto Pilot) is the best software I have used for hosting client/payment data and processing whilst WHM on it's own will created and set up your clients webspace and what facilities you extend to them such as their own cPanel, Fantastico etc.

I used a seperate bit of software for managing domain purchases/renewals called AWBS. Again, this software is not cheap but it is about as good as you can get.
Don't forget to host your support system on a different server to your other software.

Thanks for the suggestion guardian2003. I have tested WHM AP i purchased and its wonderful. Indeed Thats a good software which gives everyone a sound sleep:) I am working on the main site now to integrate whmAp into it. However, for a start I have installed RavenNuke for my customers/visitors to check because my priority is to recommend Phpnuke/RavenNuke as the default CMS for all my customers:p. Presently working on a church website (ICF Dallas ) using RavenNuke:) Hope everything goes well:)

Once again thank you:)
