Dateline Saturday, 3/18/2006. I work until the wee hours of the morning Sunday, 3/19/2006, an decide to goto bed. For months I have been using FireFox, my dream browser. I leave a browser session open when I goto bed because I want to check something out when I get back up.

Dateline Sunday, 3/19/2006, later in the mornig. I received an email from a trusted friend on some studies linking sleep disorders to Vitamin B12 http://www.getb12.com/ . So, I click the link. The link resized my browser screen and now, Firefox always opens up to that screen width and height and has reset my toolbars. I have also lost all the search engines in the drop down box to the right of the location bar. It's empty. Firefox is no longer saving any changes I make to my browser. I have reinstalled Firefox twice, scanned for ad-ware and viruses and come up with nothing. Emptied cache, removed cookies, prayed and even offered up a blood sacrifice, all to no avail. I can resize the browser window and make all kinds of changes, but when I close the session down or Open a site in a new window, it's always the same - wrong.

I have searched for hours on the Internet and Firefox lists and forums and cannot find anything like this. At this point, I am at a total loss. I have gone over every setting in about:config and can find nothing relating to the saving of the settings.

Using any fancy extensions? I spent a few hours this weekend loading about 30 cool ones... Now, I can't imagine how I lived without them! Fortunately, one of them allows the extensions to be backed up - and restored to my other PCs...nice!

Wish I had some ideas for fixing your system...sounds like a registry issue. Did you try cleaning the registry (http://ccleaner.com) after uninstalling?

Seems to be some Flash and Javascript on the code.. but nothing obvious

This is the JS code it loads
http://www.getb12.com/hbx.js

Not ran it myself, but I can't make out what it does... so not sure if its safe or not. Nothing from my virus scanner

Well, I ended up having to completely remove every trace of Firefox. I had to clean the registry several times, delete every trace that I could find on my hard drive because every time I tried reinstalling it came back. Then I installed it fresh and clean. Had to set up everything all over again but at least I can resize the screen again. How very rude killing me
