Does anyone have any info on how to have a "Thanks" field in each user's profile similar to what appears in a VBulletin forum/message board?

I love PHPBB format but like that VBulletin has this option. Would this be a fairly easy thin to add to the phpbb format or not? Thanks. Smile

That would entail a fairly large modification, including the modification of core files AND the user database. You might see if such a mod is available for standalone phpBB 2.x. Shouldn't be too much trouble to port it if it's available.

Sorry for being naive, but what does the 'Thanks' field actually do?

Your account replacement modules such as Approve Membership and CNBYA allow to add additional fields in, if that is what you are after? They can be text fields, drop down boxes etc. if I remember correctly.

In Vb, there is a "Thanks" button, just like a "Quote", "Reply", or "Report" type of button. If a post was helpful to you (even if you were just searching or browsing), you can press that button and 'reputation' points are given to the author of that post. Admins can set up how those reputation points are given, and what they are used for (typically rankings). It's nice, and becoming VERY popular.

OK so it's not just a field in a database there's a lot more to it.

There must a phpBB mod that does a similar job, but it's just trying to find someone to port it.

I only did a quick search and found this: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=441758&start=0

I have the thanks mod for nuke phpBB on my site. I am not certain it will still work flawlessly but you are welcome to try. Good luck, Smile

ok well i downloaded the thank you mod and it doesn't work. does it have anything to do with the fact that in my Forum CPanel is tells me that i am using version 2.0.17? I states i need to upgrade to 2.0.22 but i can't find those upgrade files anywhere.

Since i am running bbtonuke would i download the files from phpbb.com or somewhere else? Thanks.

Well it isn't very likely a phpBB mod will work on PHP-Nuke without some modifications.

If you want to upgrade your forums software you have to download the BBtoNuke packages at nukeresources.com. You have to download each one and run them incrementally to get you up to the latest (e.g. 2.0.18, 2.0.19, etc)

well, i downloaded a blog mod that jaded mentioned in another post. But now i am getting this error after creating the first test blog:

Quote:

Template->make_filename(): Error - file modules/Forums/templates/skyLineBlue/../../../modules/Forums/weblogs/templates/Transparent/weblog_header.htm does not exist

this is what is in my url address bar:

Quote:

http://www.mysite.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=weblog&w=1

i know this is a longshot, but i've searched everywhere for what this may mean. does anyone have any idea? give me even a glimmer of hope?? Smile

thank you!
