Hello Raven,
My hosting company upgraded to php5 today. Since then my website has been down. none of the links works, the right menu is gone and the middle news content section is gone. Here is the website www.eqcaelum.com.
I use autotheme. I did change the theme back to the default in the database and it does not show anything at that point. This website was working fine before the upgrade. What sucks was they did not tell us before they did this.

Thanks
Lonk

All I can offer to you by way of advice is to read through Raven's threads here that he created to help HIS hosting clients out with his own conversion to PHP5 and maybe some will apply. HOWEVER, it is your HOST's responsibility to communicate with you and help you with things like this. If you have not asked them for help, you need to. If you have, and they have been useless to you, you need to get a new host. RavenWebHosting is the best... hands down.

Thanks Montego,
Here is the fix for this problem. After pouring through the log files i found several error that said that php had ran out of memory. here are the error msg i was seeing

[Fri Feb 1 17:47:02 2008] [error] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4864 bytes) in /home/eqcaelum/public_html/modules/gallery2/modules/core/classes/GalleryDataItem.class on line 232
[Fri Feb 1 17:04:14 2008] [error] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 311296 bytes) in /home/eqcaelum/public_html/modules/gallery2/modules/core/classes/GalleryTheme.class on line 1566

here is what support said in their ticket.

Support : "I increased the memory size to 16MB and I see your site is working now. What is odd is. I looked at the backup of the old php.ini file
and it was set to 8MB and your website was working. I will look into
this further."

I tried changing themes and i even restored my website from a backup thinking maybe something went bad during their update. I even tried the error msg in the config file and it did not show me anything. I was also told that all the other php websites on that server were working fine. What is weird was that i could install phpnuke 7.9 from the cpanel and it worked fine.
I only saw these error if i click on the gallery link on the left menu. The only other error i am getting has to do with the themes. For some odd reason it can not find a css file. Which i was told that i need to change the path in the theme. The error logs shows that i have been getting it since i started the website. So I was getting these error before the upgrade. Other than that i was not getting any errors from the website.

Thanks
Lonk

Glad you are up and running.

Sounds to me like they may have done more than just upgrade PHP? By chance did they also switch over to PHP running as CGI? I wonder if that was the difference.
