Hello, I've been trying to instal RavenNuke onto the server I'm renting. I get through all the steps in the tutorial fine, upload them into the correct folder, than access the installation page, and I get this error when I try to install the core tables.
The exact error message that your MySQL server reported is:
MySQL Error # 4 = Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes
I trouble shooted it, and I found out something in the MySQL database being in the UTF8_bin and it needing to be switched to Latin1_bin charset...

I have no idea how to do that, or where to start. Here are the stats on the server, if you could help me, I'd really appreciate it.

You may want to search on the forums, I'm sure this has been addressed before |

Yeah, I saw a topic like this before, but I don't believe it told me how I could change it.. |

I did what those told me to do, I changed the INSTALLATION/sql/rn_core.sql as well as the /INSTALLATION/rndb_upgrade.php to match this post. http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/postp115144.html#115144
I also changed my database in phpMyAdmin on the main screen to latin1_swedish, as well as changed the database itself. So I'm ultamately lost.. But I do have a diffrent error now.
MySQL Error # 4 = Duplicate entry 'Feeds-use_fb' for key 1
http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/postt15294.html That posts tells me to drop or change the table or something, how would I do that and still be able to use the modules I wish to install?
While this post says the guy fixed it by creating a diffrent version on his database. http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/postt15359.html |

Well, you don't run both of those. I would delete all the tables within your database and re-run the installSQL.php script now that you have modified rn_core.sql. You shouldn't get an error for duplicate entry then. |

I fixed this acouple of days ago, if you get this error. First delete the database, and create a new one, go into phpmyadmin, go to operations, and change the database to latin1_. Than re-run the INSTALLTION/MySQL. |

I don't see the ability to change it to latin1_ anywhere on there...I just have the option to create a new table under operations...anyone know a way to fix it? |

latin1 is a default so I'm not sure why you don't have it. I would ask your hosting provider. |

I think I was the first one to report this and I also do not have Latin1 in the list. However, on very close inspection I noticed no ill effects in the DB. "False Positive" maybe?
Also of note, I think that MySQLDumper can be configured for Latin1. I installed the app but didn't get a chance to take a really good tour of the prefs yet.
Cheers |

i know i fixed it by importing the sql as latin1
also i think i used this in a query to set all tables,
SET NAMES latin1; |

I was using a MySQL4 database but once I moved to a MySQL 5 database, it flew through like a charm. Thanks for all the insight guys. |

MySQL5, just like PHP5.2, is the way to go... if you can. |
