I have searched and searched and cannot find where this is talked about on the forum

http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/faq-2-.html#17

Adding the line to .htaccess gives me a 500 error (even though my host said you were allowed to)

Adding the line to mainfile screws the whole website (and unless someone tells me exactly where to put it in the file then i don't know how to make it work)

Lastly, can someone help me on making a php.ini file (my host says it's allowed but i'm not sure how to or where to put it)

Thanks

"PHP_FLAG output_buffering On" did never produce a 500 error. I use it since years.
e.g.
PHP_FLAG output_buffering On
RewriteEngine on

here are my rules

etc.

Btw: You didn“t searched enough because there are several threads about this issue !

You really need to visit a local bookstore and/or amazon.com and/or http://php.net and/or many other sites that specialize in PHP tutorials. For instance, a simple Google on the terms custom php.ini file will provide you with the answer.

Also, if you search this site and/or Google for 500 service error you will find answers as to what causes those. Please, this site and those responsible for providing help (as I said before), expect all posters to do due diligence before posting help issues. We are not here to build your site, step-by-step, as you encounter errors/issues with the very basic of issues.

I can never work the search function on this website at all - its weird, it never searches my terms properly.

is PHP_FLAG output_buffering On the ONLY thing the file needs?

You talk like I havn't already tried many alternatives before posting.

Posting here has been my last resort with the issues I have asked about

Then your host needs to tell you why it isn't working.

In the FAQ mentioned above it does tell you "where to put it". From the faq: Lastly. you can try adding the following line to mainfile.php right after the file credits: ini_set("output_buffering",1);

That is not true. You are just not connecting the dots, as they say. You seem to want/need to have your resolutions spelled out rather than figured out. When the issues are complicated and no help is found that is sometimes necessary. Using those posts as a guideline,

If your host is using phpSuExec/suExec then this should solve your problem:
