I wondered if it is possible to have two download categories.
The reason i ask this is because yes having RN2.3 and it has a simple download module. At the same time i have installed nsn gr downloads, but have kept the old download directory within the modules folder, although i have renamed the directory to downloads2, which when accessing admin stills maintains the admin without interferance.
How is it though can i link up the original configurations for the original downloads module, so that is works as a second downloads category/directory?
Is this possible at all, this would really be appreciated to know.
Thankyou to anyone willing to provide there advice upon this topic. |

It was in the past always possible to have an additional downloads module beside the standard module. Don´t know exactly about the combination standard + NSN GR Downloads.
However you will find a few additional downloads module at: http://cybertipps.com there downloads section.
I suggest test it local/offline first to be sure everything works. |

NSN GR Downloads will not live alongside the regular Downloads module without code changes. It was written to replace the original, therefore, it overwrites the files. It, does, however, use different tables. |

Well i have an idea this can somehow work, with both using the same configuration. I reckon this can be achieved but exactly sussing how is they key.
Well like i said what i have done is remained the original downloads module folder and all its config(as new say), but renaming the module folder to downloads2, whilst at the same time i installed nsn gr downloads and activated as should, i then activated the so called downloads2 module, and from here there seems to be no scripting, syntax or any error whats so ever, although there is one issue, which i can not get passed, when i click on the downloads image link, all i get is a blank white page.
What present configuration with the original downloads module, makes the script point to the folder in modules named downloads, well i am thinking it may be possible with these bit of coding; yet to find, that it needs to be changed so that somehow theres divided configuration, that when downloads is used it uses those tables and settings to that section, and when nsn gr downloads is used it uses those tables and settings, but exactly how or where to change i can not quite work out yet.
What do you think, do you really believe there is no chance, or from this do you think there is some possibility, although any advice would be appreciated.
Thankyou sincerely. |

Yes, yes i noticed that just after i sent the first topic, although because my account with them has been suspended through a issue caused through paypal reasons not my own, i can not get that module.
There are also several other modules that give you separate categories of downloads, but as i arrived at what i refer to, i just started looking into this further, and from what i see, there is possibility, its just getting past that blank white page when i click on the old downloads image link.
Any advice would be appreciated. |

I wouldn't download anything from that site if someone paided me. They have no respect what so ever for anyone elses work. |

Well as long as u are respectful who cares really.
Were all alive to help each other out to make life better for each other, so if others wish to stick up there nose at you like they are better, then they are wrong.
Remember, where you are strong they are weak, and where you are weak they are strong, whoever over steps there mark, gets sent to back of the queue of being given respect, while you climb the ladder.
I can not though discriminate clan themes for they do offer the public some very great modules of interest, but at the same time i do feel away at there false advertising of paying for one months membership, in return it ending to be a continuous monthly subscription(not stated on signup page), then they have the cheak to suspend users just because they do not wish to pay for further months.
Unfair attitudes to users, but good facilities for webmasters and developers alike, no disrespect there.
The subject at hand in this topic is not though about discriminating someone but generally for issues and development, please stick to the issue please.
Any help would be appreciated regarding the issue though please. |

pureliving, regarding your original trail of thought with renaming the existing Downloads to Downloads2, you are experiencing the exact issue I wrote previously about. You will need to make script modifications. I never said it wasn't possible, but just wanted you to know that it takes some work. You just need to find in the code everywhere the original author hard-coded the modules path. Pretty sure that is all you have to do. |
