Hi all, first off i would like to introduce myself again...i am formerly the username as "mds" i gave my site away for someone else to take over and they are now "mds" allthough i am still part of the website...i just no longer own it but still play around with this stuff hehehe on a very limited basis....anyway the names Lee and thanks for the help !
i downloaded the newest version last week and again last night (saturday) and i am installing this locally using wamp so its a brand new first time install. i went threw all the steps of a new install and it said the config table was missing and couldnt save the settings. So being a bit familiar i found the table was indeed missing from the DB. My next step was to check the core file sql to find it stops with a forums table and there is no config table beyond that......am i looking in the wrong place or ???
so in short i need the config table info for the DB or where to find it for insert
Thanks |

I downloaded both packages and in html/instalation/sql/rn_core.sql on line 255 is the config table.
So I would be worried about missing more than just the config table. Are you sure the core tables are installed? |

I recommend you to re-download the RavenNuke 2.30.00 package, extract files, delete the old ones, drop old database, place the extracted files in and follow the instructions to install the system again... If you continue to have this same issue please post back |

i got it...not sure why but the installer was stopping short of loading all core tables..prolly something to do with settings on the local install of wamp....the config table was there in the file but again for some reason notepad wasnt showing the whole file....downloaded VIM and finally got everything loaded...again for some reason the installer would only load a certain amount of tables at a time then i would have to delete them from the rncore sql and run again etc etc........i know there was a couple other ways to load the tables like deleting the $prefix and putting in nuke_blah and running either the sql tab or import from phpmyadmin but i wanted to do it useing the installer this time.......
anyway all seems to be good this can prolly be deleted....
Thanks |

We usually recommend using XAMPP for local installation and also don't use notepad, that has caused loads of problems in the past. Personally I use Notepad++, but others have their favourites. |

Notepad++ is a very good choice for windows people, shame it have not been natively ported to Linux/OSX but it can run on Linux if WINE is installed... sighs |

I use Notepad++ and love it. It is also still in active development. |

jestrella, no i have no idea why or what caused it to stop like that......there was no error or anything shown, however it didnt show how many tables were loaded either when using the installer it didnt show anything where it wouldve showed how many were loaded....the sentinal stuff installed fully (i'm assuming) as it gave a completed and however many of tables were loaded on each step of the install....
jakec, i know Xampp is usually the prefered here but i had used wamp previously so i just grabbed the newest version they had for download and went with it....i do remember in the past with wamp i have had to run the install sql file directly in phpmyadmin however atleast this time i was able to run the installer included in 2.3 even tho it would stop.
i seen notepad++ in the tools to have forum i'll look into that as i know note pad has always been mentioned here as causing issues but on the puter i was on that was all i had at the time and i again had used vim for editing so again i went with what i had previously used..
Thanks for the replies and suggestions much appreciated...... |
